Can Havanese Fly In Cabin?

Can Havanese Fly In Cabin?

TLDR: – Yes Havanese can fly in the Cabin. Most of the time if an airline allows dogs in the cabin the Havanese will fit in their crate under the seat in front of you. We have travelled many times with Nessie on flights in Canada and the US primarily with Westjet and they allow dogs.

Travel is one of the joys of life for many people, but for those of us with pets, it can be bittersweet to leave our furry friends behind! Some pets, though, do make great travel companions and can come with you on your adventures. Below, we will go over the Havanese breed and whether or not it is a breed of dog that is well suited for travel and can fly with you in the main cabin of the plane.

Rules For Dogs on a Plane

There are a few rules for bringing your dog into the cabin of a plane, rather than putting them in the cargo hold. They must be able to fit in a carrier which can then be placed under your seat on the plane. The Havanese is a toy breed, so they are easily able to fit in such a carrier!

This means that you can take your Havanese in the cabin with you on a flight, and do not have to part from your pet at any point on the air journey.

Best Crates for Flying with a Havanese

We have a couple of crates that we use when we fly with Nessie. Both of the crates have venting and are soft shell crates. It would serve you well to determine which type of plane you are on and what the clearance is under the seat infront of you. Usually this information is available. Here are some links to the above crates on Amazon for you to check out.

Havanese Temperament Helps on Flights

The Havanese is a breed that has a relaxed and docile temperament. They are also cuddly and playful. All of this is what makes them good companion dogs!

The Havanese is a breed that will not do well when left alone for too long, though, as they were bred to be companion dogs and want to be around their humans. However, the temperament of the Havanese breed is also what makes this a breed of dog that can travel well.

They are able to be more relaxed on a flight, rather than getting anxious and too stressed out, as some other breeds of dog might.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is a Havanese?

The Havanese is a breed that is very recognizable by its long, silky fur and expressive dark eyes. They are a small breed of dog— a toy breed, in fact— that was bred to be a companion dog. For this reason, they are a cuddly breed that will always be by your side.

They could even be considered to be a velcro dog! They will only grow to be between 8 ½ to 11 ½ inches high at the shoulder on average. As for the average weight of the Havanese, they will usually be between 7 and 13 pounds in weight.

Can a Havanese go on a plane?

Yes, your Havanese dog can go on a plane. As this breed is a small dog and is classified as a small breed, it is also small enough that it can remain safe in the cabin with you, instead of being placed in the cargo of the plane with larger breeds of dogs.

Do Havanese travel well?

The Havanese breed is a very popular one. If you have a Havanese, then you are likely to want to bring your pup along on your adventures so that you can share these experiences with your furry best friend! Luckily, the Havanese have a mild and easygoing temperament, so this means that they are able to travel well without getting too stressed.

A Havanese can spend time in the car, and even on the plane with you if you are traveling farther or traveling overseas! They are a great travel companion, and their small size makes it easier for them to travel, too.

What size dog can fly in-cabin?

If you are flying with your dog, you will have to do some research to make sure that you do everything properly.

If you have a larger dog, for example, it may not be able to fly in the cabin with you and may have to be placed in cargo instead. The limit for the size of dogs who can fly in the cabin with you is around 20 pounds.

Essentially, the carrier that you place your dog in needs to be able to fit underneath the seat of your chair on the plane. You should also keep your dog in its carrier during the flight for safety and out of respect for other passengers.

Can my 30-pound dog fly With Me in-cabin?

When you are bringing your dog on a flight, you will of course want to have it in the cabin with you, rather than in the cargo hold. Sometimes, though— depending upon the size of your dog— this is just simply not possible.

First things first is that Havanese dogs don’t get to 30 pounds. And if your Havanese is 30 pounds you should probably take it to the vet. These little dogs are not that heavy….usually they are in the 10-15 pound range.

If your dog (that isn’t a Havanese) is 30 pounds, it may be able to fly in the cabin with you. If your dog’s carrier fits under the seat, then your 30-pound dog should be allowed in the cabin.

For dogs over 25 pounds, some airlines do require that you purchase a seat for your dog, so you should do your research to be sure!
